Pokiri to be remade

Pokiri, released in 2006, was one of the biggest hits in the history of Telugu cinema. The film, written and directed by Puri Jagannath, featured Mahesh Babu and Ileana in the lead roles. In 2007, Pokiri was remade in Tamil as Pokkiri with Vijay and Asin in the lead.  Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film went on to become a huge box office success like the original version.

Now, inspired by the huge success of the Telugu and Tamil versions, journalist Ganesh Kasargod and his friend Pai are all set to remake Pokiri in Kannada. Darshan will don the lead role; the heroine is yet to be chosen. M.D. Sridhar, who has made several remake films before, has been selected as the director. Hari Krishna is composing the music, K. Krishna Kumar is the cameraman and Ravi Varma will be the stunt director.  

Speaking to the media, Ganesh said he is confident the film will successful in Kannada also. The remaining cast is getting finalized and the pre-launch work has already begun.
