Hot, sexy and dusky Neha Sharma is back again after Chirutha movie. She is now acting with Varun Sandesh in his next movie. This new movie is being produced by Gemini Kiran and is being directed by Sandeep Reddy Gunnam. This movie is a remake of tamil superhit movie Polladhavan.

This new movie will be the second film in telugu for Neha Sharma after Chirutha. She first debuted in telugu along with Ram Charan Tej in Puri Jagannath directed Chirutha.

According to our reporter Bannu, Varun Sandesh is building six-pack body for this film. It seems that Varun is trying for a complete image shift from a lover boy image to action, romantic hero. Varun who is right now busy shooting for Evaraina Eppudaina is also busy working in gym for developing six-pack body.

Puri Jagannath sidelines brother for Prabhas

Puri Jagannath has set aside his brother, Sairam Shankar's film, to make a film with Prabhas. The ace director was to have started work on Sairam Shankar's debut film sometime this month. But the latest buzz is that since Neninthe did not do as well as was expected at the box-office, Puri Jagannath has decided to start work on a film with a more commercially viable hero and prove his mettle.

Since Neninthe has not fared well at the box-office, most producers are apprehensive about taking up Puri Jagannath's film with his debutant brother in the lead. Prabhas who worked with Puri Jagannath in Bujjigadi Made In Chennai was approached and the young star readily agreed to act in Puri's film. 

Puri was to have started films with the likes of Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu but these films would be mega-budget extravaganzas and will take time to go into production. So he will first direct a film starring Prabhas which Aditya Ram has agreed to produce.

Housefull not related to film industry

Canning of two songs remains for the Telugu movie House Full produced by Chandra Siddhartha and introducing Ajay Bhuyan as director with Vipin, Vega, Gowri Pundit, Aryan and Ali in the lead. 

Giving the details, the producer said, "We are planning to complete the balance two songs soon. We have already started their choreography from January 15 at Ramoji Film City under the dance direction of Nixon. Presently dubbing activity is also in progress. We are planning to launch the audio on January 21 and are making efforts to release the film in the first week of February. It is a typical film and runs along an altogether different screenplay. Basically it is a romantic entertainer. Though the title is House Full the film has nothing to do with film industry. But why we have kept that title can be known while watching the climax."

Naini Deekshit, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, RK, Ambati Sreenu and others are in the cast. Camera is by VN Gnana Sekhar, editing is by Shravan, lyrics are by Chaitanya Prasad, Peddada Murthy, Ananta Sriram and Bhashasri, while music is by Anoop.

Ram Charan's Historical Film in Progress

Shooting of the second film of Ram Charan Teja, son of Chiranjeevi, directed by SS Rajamouli and produced by Allu Aravind under the banner of Gita Arts is progressing well. Kajal Agarwal is playing the female lead in the flick. 

It is well aware that the film is being made with a historical story in its backdrop and is based on birth and rebirth concept. Some historical scenes for the film were already shot in Rajasthan and Gujarat recently and presently the film is being shot in Ramoji Film City in Bhairavakonda set, involving Ram Charan Teja and Kajal. Srihari is playing a key role in the movie.

It is worth mentioning here that Chiranjeevi shook his legs along with his son for one of the songs. Story is by Vijayendra Prasad, dialogues are by M Ratnam, styling by Rama Rajamouli and music by MM Keeravani. The film is most likely to hit the screen in summer.

Producer 'Used' Heroine For Less Pay

The wise men often say that before you start off with a project be it old or new, you must always be sure that the paperwork is in order. That way no misunderstandings will arise when it comes to payment for the stars and the professionalism is maintained in a big way. 

However, there are many who tend to be on the wrong side and this is one perfect example. There is news that the Bollywood beauty Swetha Bharadwaj who recently made her debut in Tollywood with the film 'Indumathi' was actually promised a whopping twenty lakhs as her fee. 

Finally, the maker is said to have given Swetha a mere four lakhs and since the agreement was all oral, nothing could be done about it. While folks have been wondering as to how Swetha could expect such huge amounts, given the fact that she has acted in 'Mission Istanbul' seems to have convinced her that she might be worth so much.

Ileana, without doubt, is numero uno star in Tollywood. And one of the highest paid actresses in South India. She commands huge following among the current generation actresses almost equal to a top hero! She was a part of the success of movies such as Pokiri, Devadas, Jalsa, Raakhi and Bhale Dongalu. She’s rarely seen talking in public. Last year, she attended the TANA convention in the USA, and when the organizers booked a very big hall to meet the audience, the hall was jam-packed and people were standing outside too just to have a glimpse of her! She answered all the questions very patiently. Though we met there, the interview didn’t happen then. When Jalsa and Bhale Dongalu released, I called her to have a brief chit-chat. Here are the excerpts from our conversation..

Sri: So, how are you enjoying the success of Jalsa and good response for your role in Bhale Dongalu?

It is a double bonanza for me. I am really happy about the success of the both the films!

Sri: Your film Pokiri was much bigger success than the debut film Devadas.. .

True, but Devadas is always close to my heart as it is my debut film and the character I did in Devadas is close to my original self. So I love Devadas a lot, not that I don’t love Pokiri, but I surely like Devadas more!

Sri: You worked with best directors in Telugu within a short span!

Of course, I am very lucky to work with wonderful directors like YVS gaaru, Puri Jaganath, Krishnavamsi, V.N.Aditya, Trivikram gaaru, Vijayabhaskar gaaruetc. It is luck and my hard work which paid off to work with such a great directors.

Sri: How was your interaction with them?

I never had any problem with anyone. Working with them is like learing a new thing every day! But, above all, I definitely have gratitude towards YVS gaaru. I was totally a newcomer when I was doing Devadas and did not know anything about films. It is he who taught me patiently. So I am definitely more indebted to him than to others.

Sri: How do you rate yourself as an actress?

I am working hard and I am improving with every film, I could say, but I think others should tell that, and not myself (laughs)!

Sri: How was working with heroes Like Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh and NTR Jr.?

Pawan gaaru and Mahesh gaaru are both much reserved people. They never used to interfere with others’ works - their policy was to keep to themselves, complete their work and go. Tarak (NTR Jr.) is fun to work with. He mingles with everyone easily. But everyone is a real professional in that they all work equally hard for scene betterment.

Sri: How was it working with Siddharth?

Sri: Everyone knows that you are hot property in Telugu, but since you also worked in a Tamil film, I ask this: Any plans of continuing there also?

My film in Tamil didn’t do well there, and I was not really happy working in Tamil either. I had a bad experience working in that film. So I am not really keen to work in Tamil films in future, unless a good opportunity comes in. Though I was offered the Tamil version of Pokiri, I was unable to work for it then due to clash of dates with the other Tamil film I was doing and I also met with an accident and was not able to work for sometime caused delays in completion of my other films too.

Sri: How do you feel being the highest paid actress in Telugu?

Who said that I am highest paid? All those are rumors, and I do not think I am at that level where people cannot reach me! I am reasonably paid ..not over-paid definitely.

Review

Story

Arundhati (Anushka) belongs to Gadwal samsthanam in 1920’s. She is known for her bravery in saving the Samstanam by killing Pasupathi (Sonu Sood) an evildoer who creates ruckus in that place. She is praised as Jejemma (named after the famous Goddess in that area). But the spirit of Pasupathi haunts that place. Another girl is born in the same lineage after 3 generations and she is named as Arundhati. The spirit of Pasupati is after Arundhati to take the revenge. The rest of the story is all about how Arundhati puts an end to the evil spirit of Pasupathi.

Artists Performance:

Anushka: This is Anushka’s first performance oriented film and she is simply amazing in two roles. There are many shots in the film where the scenes from the present time will dissolve into to flashback and vice versa. These scenes are done on Anushka are crucial in the film. She has to show the variations between the old Arundhati and new Arundhati. She did exceptionally well with subtle yet impact creating performance. Shilpa and Sowmya dubbed the voices of old and new characters respectively.

Others: Sonu Sood looks deadly in the role of Aghora. His performance is excellent. A special mention should be given to P Ravi Shankar who dubbed the voice of Sonu Sood. It is a great opportunity for any dubbing artists to get a role like this. The way he pronounces ‘ninnu vadalaa … vasta .. vasta’ is extremely good. Sayaji Shinde got a beautiful role ‘Talla Sayibu’ in this film. He is completely believable in that role. Manorama is very good. Deepak is nice. Satyanarayana and others are good. All other artists are appropriately cast in their roles. 

Technical Departments:

Story of the film is good. Screenplay is very good. The beauty of this screenplay is about revealing the story and information in parts. There is always something to look forward to with anticipation in the film. It possesses one of the best screenplays in the recent times. Direction by Kodi Rama Krishna is very good. However, there are a couple of violent scenes that are disturbing to the family crowds. You can see a few Hollywood inspirations like Lord of the Rings. A couple of episodes (the thread of drum dance by the guru & establishing Arundhati as the warrior) should have been more effectively established. 

Visual effects and graphics done by Rahul Nambiar are extraordinary. Cinematography by Senthil Kumar is excellent. Background music and rerecording by Koti is brilliant. The songs in the film go with the flow of narration. Art direction by Anand Sai is first-rate. Make-up work is good. Editing is smooth. Digital Ingredient (color grading) is very good. Production values of this film are extravagant. 

Final Analysis:

First half of the film is excellent and the second half is good. The plus points of the film are performances, screenplay, technical values and grandeur. The only negative point I see in this film is violence (got an A certificate from censors), which is very much required for the film to be effective. After a long time, I watched a Telugu film that has both content and technology rightly mixed to give a vibrant output. Arundhati is a film which you can proudly show it as a Telugu film to all your non-Telugu friends. And it will live up to the adjective of ‘Magnum Opus’. Two thumbs up to Shyam Prasad Reddy for making a brilliant film. Don’t watch it on internet or pirated DVDs. Arundhati is a film that must be watched in a good theater with nice sound/projection system. 

Allari Naresh To Become Director

Talent is something that is unending and if there is someone gifted with it then sky is the limit for them. One man who seems to be making a lot of news not just for the success of his films but also his immense talent that can be seen on the screen is none other than the lean and lanky Allari Naresh.

After having proved his mettle on the screen, there is news that this young star has already got on to writing a story and is on the preparation of a script. Apparently, Naresh wants to take the role of a director and that will happen in the year 2013. The hero of the film would be Aryan Rajesh, Naresh's brother.

It is heard that Naresh has written the story by himself and not just that, even the scripting and some of the most key roles of this project will be undertaken by Naresh himself if the news is to be believed. The target date has got a lot of time so let us see if there are any changes in the meanwhile.

Apparently, Raghavendra Rao was very much impressed with the get up that Prabhas was in and so cast him in the role. J K BHARAVI would be the researcher and also the script writer for this movie.

Charmi & Ajay To Star In A Movie Directed By Pavan

CHARMI KAUR is one of the very few actresses in tinsel town, who could carry an entire movie on her shoulders… sometimes even without the need of an actual leading man. And suddenly, she can even play a second or even a third fiddle in a movie with equal elan. Such actresses are always in demand and she has landed in yet another flick that is entirely shouldered on her.

Producer RAJASHEKHAR took up a project with a debutant director PAVAN. They cast CHARMI as the protagonist and AJAY in a negatively shaded lead role. The title is yet to be announced and the movie would start shooting from 12th of this month itself. In the first schedule, many scenes would be shot involving the female protagonist’s residence.

The movie is being directed by SURESH KRISHNA. And now, everyone in the film industry as well as in the political field, is eager to know what would Dasari say via the movie. Ram & Kajal Agarwal To Star In Debutant Sharavanan’s Film

RAM, fresh from the blockbuster READY, is quite busy with MASKA. But he is already signed up for another plum project with SRAVANTHI RAVI KISHORE once again after Ready. Interestingly, this untitled movie is being directed by debutant SHARAVANAN (an associate of A R Murugadoss). Current favourite KAJAL AGARWAL is the female lead of the film which is said to be yet another love story. Sushmita Sen Loses Court Case Against Abu Malik

ushmita Sen has lost a court battle that she fought against Abu Malik (Anu Malik’s brother) over the payments for the Heat Stage Shows (2006) in which she performed. After almost 20 case hearings, the court ruled in favour of Abu Malik, the event co-ordinator. To begin with, Sushmita had filed a case against Abu Malik in the Mumbai High Court. The grievance that she cited was the non-payment of dues amounting to a hefty Rs 50 lakh. She had claimed that the amount was outstanding as fees for her performances at the Heat Shows in the US, UK and Dubai in May 2006. The shows had been organised by Safdar Hussain and co-ordinated by Abu Malik. But the most embarrassing thing for Sushmita Sen is that she has to now pay a sum amounting to almost Rs 50,000 as compensation towards the costs of litigation to Abu Malik.

Mamtha Mohandas changes her path

Mamtha Mohandas is now ardently working to rope herself out of the second heroine image. Her face became a known one after ‘Lanka’ (2006), a Malayalam movie that got dubbed into Telugu as ‘Pokiri Pilla’. She debuted as a second heroine into Telugu industry with ‘Yama Donga’ starring NTR and Priyamani.

Be it fate or luck, thereafter she was approached often only to play in the side roles and not as the solo heroine. She did play in a series of movies as a second heroine. Jagapathi Babu: New encounter specialist in town

Jagapathi Babu played hero in the debut directorial venture of J. D. Chakravarthy. 'Homam'. They are again together for 'Siddham' produced under the banner Shreya Productions that also produced the film 'Homam'.

According to reports the film's shooting was wrapped up on the 3rd of this month.

It may be recalled that Jagapathi Babu who played an undercover cop in 'Homam' is now going a step further by donning the role of an encounter specialist in 'Siddham'.

Jagapathy Babu fans can expect the film to be released by the end of January or in the first week of February.

Siddarth Trying To Come Back

Actor Siddarth is trying to find his footing and regaining his lover boy slot again. The actor appears in a Telugu film after a year and a half, with the film Koncham Ishtanga Koncham Kashtanga. Sidharth's last film Aata did not do well at the Box Office, and he did a disappearing act from Telugu after that.

Sidharth has been more active with Bollywood and Tamil films during this period. KIKK has Tamannaah pairing opposite him and the film is directed by Kishore. Based on the promos the film definitely has a glossy urban look with some sweet moments attached to it.

Navdeep-Bhumika in Yagam

Yagam, starring Bhumika Chawla, Navdeep and Kim Sharma, will directed by P. Arun Prasad and produced by Raju-Praveen. Bharat Thakur will present this action-entertainer which is to be mainly shot in Bangkok. Navdeep and Kim Sharma will portray bartenders and Bhumika will portray an airhostess who has a chance encounter with them. Renowned martial arts hero Tony Jha's protege will be choreographing the mind-blowing action sequences. Music will be composed by Mani Sharma and Bharani Dharan will crank the camera.

Bunny’s next with Gunasekhar

Stylish Star Allu Arjun is all set to sizzle in yet another flick of director Gunasekhar, the shooting of which will begin in second week of January. According to sources, D.V.V. Danayya (the producer of Desamuduru) is producing the film under the banner of Universal Media. The female lead is yet to be confirmed, though. It is learnt that the subject deals with society-oriented issues (as usual, it’s the trademark of Gunasekhar), however, there are certain elements that would add zing to Allu Arjun’s stardom and go according to his image. Now, the million dollar question is that does Gunasekhar succeed in making another Okkadu?

I am not a glam prop: Tamanna

Ravikrishna slaps Gopika hard!

Actress Shriya Saran’s Mission Istanbul has bombed at the box office, but she is happy with the way her career is shaping up.

From music videos to Tollywood to the Hindi film industry and now Hollywood, she has been climbing the ladder of success.

Back in the city for the shooting of a Tamil film Kandaswami, Shriya says, “Hyderabad is like home to me and it feels great to be here. I was at the Poison launch party and met up with all my old friends after such a long time.”

Disappointed with the failure of Mission Istanbul?

“When a film doesn’t do well, it is natural that you will feel bad. But the important thing is I have given it my 100 per cent and have worked very hard for the film,” she says.

When asked what she felt went wrong with the film, she replied, “It’s not right for me to comment on this. A film is a by-product of the energies and efforts of a lot of people. On hindsight, you can point out many mistakes, but you can never be sure about the fate of a movie from before it releases.”

Talking about her recent Tamil film, Shriya says that though it is a commercial movie, it has a poignant social message. “The film is about the economic disparity in the country — how the rich are getting richer while the poor are becoming poorer. Sushi Ganeshan is the director while Vikram is my co-actor. I had a good time doing the film. It’s a commercial film but at the same time deals with a topic that is so true of India.”

Shriya in yet another Hollywood film

Shriya who started her career with a Telugu film slowly creeped into Tamil, then Hindi and now into Hollywood. Aishwarya Aunty to start a family in November this year

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek who represented India at the Cannes film festival have made up their mind to start a family soon. According to the close sources Jaya bachchan is forcing Aishwarya to become pregnant by November 2008 or March 2009 as according to the Kundali of Aishwarya getting pregnant will be favorable and auspicious to the whole Bachchan Khandhan. Nagarjuna reveals the names of wig heroes

Nagarjuna who is basking on his latest film KING ‘so called’ success is a busy man these days. It is said that 2007 years DON is busy making his son’s debut film a super hit and so is providing all sorts of support to his son Naga Chaitanya.

Meanwhile, on the last weekend he was seen in a small social gathering and one of the guest asked Nagarjuna abut his hair style and also poised an embarrassing question that from where did he get his hair wig. Nag simply replied that he has no option to use a wig and has a natural hair on his head.

Speaking further more, Nagarjuna also revealed that his father ANR and late NTR used to purchase their wigs from London in case they had to wear it for social gatherings, otherwise the producers of their films used to support them with an apt one.

Sasirekha Parinayam Movie Review

Krishna Vamsi’s much awaited Sasirekha Parinayam has hit the silver screen today after a much hype and fan following. This movie was stated to hit the silver screens yesterday, but due to some technical nags the movie released on a big note today. The movie follows the mood of Krishna Vamsi’s earlier film Chandamama and is also in lines of the Hindi flick Jab We Met which was a blockbuster of 2007. But still lacks the thrill and vigor to make it big finally.

Story

Sasirekha alias Bujji (Genelia) is a well pampered and darling daughter of Ahuthi Prasad who hails from Amalapuram as a very rich Zamindar. Ahuthi fixes his daughters marriage with son of Paruchuri Gopal Krishna who has an NRI son who earns well. Gopal Krishna’s sons name is Abhimanyu (tarun) who is sweetly and shortly called as Abhi. Gopal Krishna is a very famous and wells settled lawyer in a town in Vijayawada.

Bujji (Genelia) who is studying in Kakinada is a BSC computer science student and when she is busy with her college life, her father soon intimates her that she needs to see him urgently in Amalapuram. Sasi runs to her village only to discover that her marriage is fixed the same night. Sasi is ordered by her father and is also offered a Video clipping which is that off the bridegroom Abhi. But she refuses to see it and says that she is not interested in marrying him.

As the bridegrooms side come for the marriage, Sasi’s Mother hurriedly makes her ready in order to stay away from Ahuthi Prasad’s anger. Meanwhile, after the marriage party comes to a halt in Amalapuram, Gopal Krishna demands from Ahuthi Prasad a whooping amount as dowry and this makes the bride fumed up. Sasi draped in the attire and jewelry of a bride runs from her house in order to go to Hyderabad.

The whole nuisance makes Ahuthi fumed up and he forcibly snatches the total dowry amount from Gopal Krishna who threatens to see his end when he goes to Vijayawada. As said, Gopal Krishna sends a legal notice to Ahuthi Prasad and makes him go to a jail.

Sasirekha (Genelia) and Abhimanyu (tarun) meet each other on a journey to Hyderabad and due to some circumstances are forced to spend some days. A small incident and a goons chase makes Sasi get close to Abhi. But Sasi Rekha recognizes Tarun with a name of Anand and not Abhimanyu.

Then the whole saga carries on and Abhimanyu and Sasirekha fall in love. The rest of the story is how they will shrug off the misunderstanding in between their parents and how they make them unite and this whole must be watched on screen.

Performances

Tarun lacked the meaty role as the whole focus was on Genelia. But still he acts well as usual and makes the audiences feel that he perfectly matches the role.

Genelia is the true protagonist of this film as the whole movie revolves around her. Her innocent face is well captured on screen and her innocent acting is well captivated by the artistic director Krishna Vamsi. The marriage scene and the jewelry draped on her is very much lavish and artistic.

Ahuthi Prasad plays the role of the father very well and his acting makes us think that he is really a father of Genelia. Paruchuri Gopal Krishna has done the character of the lawyer very well and also the father role of the hero looks apt for him.

MS Narayana leads the pack of comedy and his satires on the excise department, liquor and the normal tax payers is above average.

Music seems to be good, but still the punch of Mani Sharma in composing melody seems to be missing. Cinematography as usual is excellent in Vamsi‘s movie.

On the whole this movie provides some meaning full entertainment at the end and Krishna Vamsi churns out this film into a complete family entertainer. The movie will surely hit the 50 day mark.

South Indian Producers Council to ban Nayantara?

Tamil film producer’s council is contemplating a ban on Nayanthara. its already known that director Lingusamy and his production house Tirupathi Brothers have complained that Nayan refused to star in their forthcoming venture after receiving an advance of Rs. 25 lakhs.

But sources close to Nayan point out that the venture failed to take off on the stipulated time mentioned in the contract and Nayan’s call sheet was wasted. The advance amount, as per their claims, is adjusted towards the loss incurred by the actress. The buzz in Kollywood is that the Producers’ Council may take stern on the actress which could pave way for her ban in the Telugu and Malayalam film industries too.

Five months break for Pawan Kalyan?

It is already known that Pawan Kalyan was designated as head of the Praja Rajyam youth wing and promised to take an active role in the party. Now he announced that he would be taking a temporary break to the films from 26 December for about five months. He also planned to stop Puli directed by S.J.Surya even though most of the film is completed.

Pawan took this decision to make a quick tour in the state and conduct meetings for the youth force "Yuvarajyam" to create activity among them. Because of many internal and external problems the PRP is loosing its original grip gradually. Therefore Pawans tour in the state will revitalize the party since he has got a large number of fan following. Pawan gives aggressive touch to PRP

Megastar Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party, which has hitherto been lacking the punch and vigour, has now attained the required masala in politics, with Yuvarajyam president Pawan Kalyan entering the scene and attacking the Congress.

Apparently realising that PRP president Chiranjeevi's speeches are lack-lustre and failing to attract crowds, the party think tank is understood to have advised Chiru to rope in his brother Pawan Kalyan. And that started yielding results immediately.

Right from the day one, Pawan Kalyan has set aside all the so-called ideals of his brother. While Chiru was saying he was averse to making personal criticism in politics, Pawan straightaway resorted to personal attacks against Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, his advisor KVP Ramachandra Rao, Minister Md Shabbir Ali, PCC president D Srinivas and other prominent Congress leaders that kicked up a lot of heat and dust in the State politics. On the first day, he described Shabbir Ali as "Desa Drohi" (anti-national) for supporting the ISI agents and on the next day, he changed his wordings and said the minister was "Daiva Drohi" (anti-god). Though YSR did not directly react to Pawan's statements, it triggered wide spread reaction from the PCC and CLP offices.

And that was what Pawan wanted. He knows that the more he evokes such a reaction from rivals, the more will be PRP in the news. Pawan went a step further to display his aggressive posture, saying he was prepared to face even AK-47 bullets and attacks from the Congress workers, but would stick to his comments. "I am willing to go to jail even and face the lathi blows for the sake of the people. But I will continue to expose these corrupt Congress leaders," he said.

And it made the things easy for Chiranjeevi. He supported his brother saying there was nothing wrong in his observations. Looks like Chiru and Pawan have learnt the tricks of trade in politics!

Pawan kalyan’s Congress bashing leads to clashes

Yuvarajyam president Pavan Kalyan’s fiery speeches intended to inspire his fans ended up with angry Youth Congress workers storming the Jubilee Hills party office of Prajarajyam on Wednesday. The two clashing groups were finally dispersed by police after a mild lathicharge.

The trigger for the protests was a fiery speech by Pavan Kalyan to party workers near Indira Park on Tuesday. In a personal attack, he charged chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, minister Md Shabbir Ali, and various Congress leaders with corruption and encroachment of government lands.

As a result, Wednesday saw the Youth Congress workers gather at Gandhi Bhavan from where they proceeded to the Prajarajyam office at Jubilee Hills to stage a protest. Midway, they burnt an effigy of Pavan Kalyan at Basheerbagh crossroads.

When the Congress workers reached the Prajarajyam office, Pavan came out to receive them in Gandhian style, but the move boomeranged. Prajarajyam workers also gathered in strength and the two groups began shouting slogans against each other.

With the atmosphere becoming surcharged, the slogan-shouting turned into jostling and pushing. Before it could worsen, police engaged in a mild lathicharge and disbanded the groups.

A novice to politics, Pavan had attacked every known Congress leader, including the chief minister by describing them as traitors, saying that they needed to be chased till their clothes fall off. Apart from Rajasekhara Reddy, he took the names of Union minister S Jaipal Reddy, state power minister Md Shabbir Ali, PCC president D Srinivas, CM’s advisor and MP K V P Ramachandra Rao and charged them with “looting the state assets.”

The Indira Park meeting, which addressed the Bhimrao Wada evacuees’ problem, saw Pavan accusing Shabbir Ali of grabbing wakf land and D Srinivas of colluding with the chief minister for benefits. He said T Subbarami Reddy was cheating the people while chanting Siva prayers.

On Wednesday, Shabbir retorted with a strong remark that a man (Pavan) who had married a woman and was living with another woman could not talk of morals in public life. He said he would take legal action against the Yuvarajyam president for branding him as wakf land grabber. He demanded an apology from the PRP leader for having criticised a Muslim leader. PCC president D Srinivas strongly condemned the way the PRP youth wing chose to criticise Congress leaders.

Pavan, however, said he would stand by whatever he said against the Congress leaders. Talking to the media on Wednesday, he said he only echoed the sentiments of the people, nothing more. “I will stand by whatever I said of them,” he said and dared them to take legal action.

Prajarajyam party president Chiranjeevi backed his brother by condemning the Youth Congress dharna as an act of intolerance. “They have every right to take objection to the criticism made by Pavan Kalyan. Instead of expressing their views democratically, the Congress chose to attack the PRP office. That is highly objectionable,” he said.

Police used mild force to avert a clash between Praja Rajyam and a group of Youth Congress activists on Wednesday in front of the PR office. The Youth Congress members led by their president T.J.R. Sudhakar Babu came to the office with flowers in Gandhigiri-style to protest the remarks made by Yuva Rajyam president Pawan Kalyan against Congress leaders.

Mr. Kalyan, while addressing the participants in a dharna against corruption on Tuesday, had hit out at senior Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He alleged that most of the ruling party leaders had criminal record and described one of them as “traitor”.

As agitated Congress workers were close to the PR office, police stopped them. Raising slogans, they staged a sit-in. Many PR activists cordoned off the entrance with a rope and raised counter-slogans.

As the shouting continued, a PR functionary received the flowers presented by the Congress activists. However, the situation threatened to turn ugly when PR activists surged forward, jostled and pushed, forcing police to use mild force.

Meanwhile, stung by Mr. Kalyan’s “sweeping remarks”, Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president D. Nagender led a demonstration at APUWJ office at Basheerbagh, where the agitated cadre slammed the actor’s effigy with footwear and burnt it.

Incensed by the verbal attack, Energy Minister Mohd. Shabbir Ali said he would file a defamation suit against Mr. Kalyan.

Apology sought

He sought an unconditional apology. The Minister said he was ready to face any punishment if it was proved that he had sold or leased out Wakf property. Party leaders, including APCC president D. Srinivas, described the actor’s comments as ‘immature’.

Mr. Sudhakar Babu charged Mr. Kalyan with trying to provoke the youth. APCC spokesperson N. Tulasi Reddy questioned the PR leader’s commitment to the youth’s welfare as the Common Man’s Protection Force floated by him, had become defunct.

Action condemned

Standing by his statement, Mr. Kalyan said Congressmen were agitated because his remarks were not “false”.

Senior PR leader T. Seetharam accused Congress activists of trying to attack the party office and condemned their action. In a democracy, everybody had a right to express their opinion and if they were hurt they should protest in a democratic manner, he added.

Minister Shabbir Ali called Pawan Kalyan a 'loafer'. We all know that Pawan Kalyan has made a big hue and cry with his comments on the ruling Congress Party for demolishing the slums in Bheemrao Vada yesterday. As Pawan Kalyan called YSR and other Congress Ministers as 'Desa Drohulu' today Shabbir Ali responded to that saying that Pawan Kalyan is a loafer and it is a waste of time to talk about him. But since that was a Press Meet on that topic he said, "Pawan is a loafer. Whom he married and with whom he is sleeping? He has no right to talk anything about Congress or its leaders". 

 

He also added, "Pawan called madarsas as terrorist training institutes, He should say sorry for entire Muslim community. I am also filing a defamation suit on him". 

 

On the other hand, the Congress leaders wished to show their protest in Gandian way to Pawan Kalyan by giving flowers for PRP leaders. And PRP leaders are also ready to hug Congress groups in Gandian style. We have to see where it ends.

Aruna unhappy with Roja cards

Tirupati: Ms Galla Aruna Kumari, minister for medical education and health insurance, called a press meet at Amara Raja Factory guest house here on Wednesday and conveyed her New Year greetings to the people. The minister did this to counter TD Mahila president and former actor Roja’s move of distributing around 1 lakh greeting cards wishing the people of Chandragiri constituency. 

The minister was to talk about the Arogyasri scheme. The card has pictures of NTR in Lord Krishna’s attire, party chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu and Roja with folded hands.  Sources said Mr Arunakumari was angry with her supporters for not alerting her about Roja’s moves in her constituency.  It is widely believed that Roja plans to contest from Chandragiri in the coming polls.
