Film industry finds a solution to Piracy

Piracy which is said to be the biggest enemy of the cinema industry is existing internationally, nationally and locally. Keeping aside the others, let us speak about our Telugu cinema industry. It is reported that almost 750 crores are being missed by the Indian cinema industry annually due to Piracy content available in market. Out of this, 238 crores are from Telugu cinema industry. All these days the producers’ council, directors and actors were fighting against this piracy fiend, but were unsuccessful to a large extent.

But now it seems that there is a solution for this Piracy devil which is faced by the industry. All the movies lovers, especially Telugu do not have the choice to go the theaters to view their favorite movies on big screen. Due to financial constraints, health wise problems, family lives and busy day to day schedules they miss their movies in theatres. When they are free to watch along with their whole family, the movies gets out of the theatres. So, they get inclined in hiring or purchasing these pirated Cd’s or DVD’s. the whole family can sit at home, consume their likings, enjoy, comment, not parking fees, make comforts and relish the movie. Moreover, the budget is also affordable as the total cost will be around Rs 30-Rs 60. So, for this reason the pirated movies are in demand.

On Sunday i.e on 15th March, 2009, recently released movie “Sasirekha Parinayam” was aired on a television network. This movie is still running in theatres and was released on January 1st, 2009. As a result most of the populace of Andhra Pradesh was glued to their television sets on this day. Though the movie was a bit dragging, everyone enjoyed it as it was a fresh movie.

According to rules, all the movies which are 2 years old can be aired on television networks. But no one in this busy world will have patience and time to watch 2 years old movie. So, if the television networks start to air newly released movie which are 3-6 months old, Piracy can be cut short by 50%-80% and slowly it will meet its end.

Hope all the producers whether big or small understand his and encourage this airing of newly released movies within 6 months. Instead of opposing it by rules and regulations, this way of airing may earn some profits.

Sachinnoni pelliki vachnanni katnalu is a right proverb for those movies which are below hit standards.
